Polymer Material SelectionThe course is intended to provide know-how in dealing with polymer material selection. Further, this course provides a methodology which helps the designer to systematically select the optimal polymer material for the part or application.

Ultra- and High Performance Polymer Selection

The course will contain five major modules covering:

Introduction to Ultra- and High Performance Polymers
- Market and role within the plastics industry
- Their secret why they can handle high heat and harsh chemicals
Short profile of the "magnificent six" families:
- Imide-Based Polymers (PEI, PAI, PESI, TPI, PI) and Polybenzimidazoles (PBI, PBI+PEEK, PBI+PEKK)
- Polysulfides (Polyphenylene sulfide - PPS), Polysulfones (PSU, PESU, PPSU), and Polyarylates (PAR)
- Polyether (PPE, PAEK, PEEK, PEKK)
- Liquid Crystal Polymers (LCP)
- Semi- and Fully Aromatic Polyamides (PARA, PPA, Aramid)
- Polyhalogenolefins (PTFE, PCTFE, FEP, PVDF, ECTFE)
